Karachi: Despite fake MDCAT papers circulating widely on social media, the test was held on schedule today under the supervision of SIBA Testing Services across nine cities and ten centers in Sindh.
The MDCAT 2025 exam was conducted for admissions to 188 public and private medical and dental colleges across Pakistan.
According to sources, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) received over Rs 1.26 billion in registration fees from approximately 140,000 candidates.
Pakistan currently has 121 private medical and dental colleges — including 77 medical and 44 dental institutions — and 67 public colleges, consisting of 49 medical and 18 dental colleges.
Vice-Chancellor of Sukkur IBA University, Professor Asif Ahmed Shaikh, confirmed that all papers circulating on social media were fake.
He said, “Certain groups tried to mislead students by spreading counterfeit papers, but all twelve of them were proven false.”
He explained that the university promptly issued a clarification on its official website late last night when the fake papers began to circulate.
The original question papers were sealed in seven layers and opened in front of students at the centers under strict supervision.
The vehicles carrying the papers were equipped with CCTV cameras and continuously monitored.
In Karachi, the test was conducted at Dow University (Ojha Campus) and NED University, where 5,096 and 5,200 students appeared, respectively.
Candidates were instructed to report by 6:30 a.m. with their admit card slips and original CNIC or passport. The test began at 10:00 a.m. and concluded at 1:00 p.m.
According to Dr. Sharjeel, Center In-Charge at Dow University Ojha Campus, the papers were opened only after passing through five layers of security checks.
In Karachi, special parking and traffic management arrangements were made by Traffic Police.
