Karachi: (Saturday, September 20, 2025): To mark World Heart Day 2025, the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) organized a Free Health Screening Camp and Awareness Session at the Karachi Press Club. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about cardiovascular health among journalists and their families, highlighting the importance of prevention, early detection, and healthy living.
During the camp, cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, and BMI screening was carried out for 100 participants.
On the occasion, Prof. Tahir Saghir, Executive Director NICVD spoke about preventing heart disease. He emphasized the importance of regular exercise and healthy eating, and also offered press club members the opportunity to avail free CPR training at NICVD.
Prof. Khawar Abbas Kazmi, Head of Preventive Cardiology, NICVD, highlighted the importance of controlling blood pressure and cholesterol levels through lifestyle modifications and regular health checkups.
Ms. Sidra Raza, Head of Food & Nutrition Services, NICVD, spoke about the significance of adopting a balanced and heart-friendly diet to prevent cardiovascular complications.
At the conclusion, Senior Reporter Mr. M. Tufail (Express News) presented a vote of thanks to NICVD management and appreciated their efforts. He also requested the Executive Director of NICVD to establish a dedicated health counter for media professionals and their families, and to organize specialized medical sessions for health reporters to enhance their knowledge about heart diseases and early warning signs of heart attacks.
NICVD reiterated its commitment to promoting heart health through awareness, prevention, and free-of-cost treatment facilities, continuing its mission of saving lives across Pakistan.
