Karachi – A second fatality from Congo virus has been reported in Karachi, health officials confirmed on Wednesday.
The deceased, a 26-year-old man from Ibrahim Hyderi, was admitted to the Infectious Diseases Hospital in a semi-conscious state with high-grade fever and symptoms of internal bleeding, according to Dr. Abdul Waheed Rajput.
The patient was initially brought from Jinnah Hospital and later transferred to the Infectious Diseases Hospital where he succumbed to the viral infection.
Medical experts have noted that Congo virus cases typically emerge after Eid-ul-Adha due to increased exposure to livestock. Health authorities are urging the public to exercise caution when handling animals and to follow proper hygiene protocols.
